The DARWIN Awards this year

Received an email about The Darwin Awards today, thought I'd share it here...

It's that time again. The DARWIN Awards are out. The annual honor is given to the persons who did the gene pool the biggest service by killing themselves in themost extraordinarily stupid way.Last year's winner was the fellow who was killed by a Coke machine which toppled over on top of him as he was attempting to tip a free soda out. This year's winner was a real rocket scientist... HONESTLY! Read on...And remember that each and every one of these is a TRUE STORY!!!And the nominees were:
Semifinalist #1
A young Canadian man, searching for a way of getting drunk cheaply, because he had no money with which to buy alcohol, mixed gasoline with milk. Not surprisingly, this concoction made him ill, and he vomited into the fireplace in his house. This resulting explosion and fire burned his house down, killing both him and his sister.
Semifinalist #2
Three Brazilian men were flying in a light aircraft at low altitude when another plane approached. It appears that they decided to moon the occupants of the other plane, but lost control of their own aircraft and crashed. They were all found dead in the wreckage with their pants around their ankles.
Semifinalist #3
A 22-year-old Reston, VA, man was found dead after he tried to use octopus straps to bungee jump off a 70-foot rail road trestle. Fairfax County police said Eric Barcia, a fast-food worker, taped a bunch of these straps together, wrapped an end around one foot, anchored the other end to the trestle at Lake Accotink Park, jumped and hit the pavement. Warren Carmichael, a police spokesman, said investigators think Barcia was alone because his car was found nearby. 'The length of the cord that he had assembled was greater than the distance between the trestle and the ground,' Carmichael said. Police say the apparent cause of death was 'Major trauma.'
Semifinalist #4
A man in Alabama died from rattlesnake bites. It seems that he and a friend were playing a game of catch, using the rattlesnake as a ball. The friend - no doubt a future Darwin Awards candidate - was hospitalized.
Semifinalist #5
Employees in a medium-sized warehouse in west Texas noticed the smell of a gas leak. Sensibly, management evacuated the building, extinguishing all potential sources of ignition; lights, power, etc... After the building had been evacuated, two technicians from the gas company were dispatched. Upon entering the building, they found they had difficulty navigating in the dark. To their frustration, none of the lights worked. Witnesses later described the sight of one of the technicians reaching into his pocket and retrieving an object that resembled a cigarette lighter. Upon operation of the lighter-like object, the gas in the warehouse exploded, sending pieces of it up to three miles away. Nothing was found of the technicians, but the lighter was virtually untouched by the explosion. The technician suspected of causing the blast had never been thought of as ''bright'' by his peers.
And Now, for the winner of this year's Darwin Award:
(As always, awarded posthumously): The Arizona Highway Patrol came upon a pile of smoldering metal embedded in the side of a cliff rising above the road at the apex of a curve. The wreckage resembled the site of an airplane crash, but it was a car. The type of car was unidentifiable at the scene. Police investigators finally pieced together the mystery. An amateur rocket scientist had somehow gotten hold of a JATO unit (Jet Assisted Take Off, actually a solid-fuel rocket) that is used to give heavy military transport planes an extra 'push' for taking off from short airfields. He had driven his Chevy Impala out into the desert and found a long, straight stretch of road. He attached the JATO unit to the car, jumped in, got up some speed and fired off the JATO!
The facts as best could be determined are that the operator of the 1967 Impala hit the JATO ignition at a distance of approximately 3.0 miles from the crash site. This was established by the scorched and melted asphalt at that location.
The JATO, if operating properly, would have reached maximum thrust within 5 seconds, causing the Chevy to reach speeds well in excess of 350 mph and continuing at full power for an additional 20 -25 seconds. The driver, and soon-to-be pilot, would have experienced G-forces usually reserved for dog fighting F-14 jocks under full afterburners, causing him to become irrelevant for the remainder of the event.
However, the automobile remained on the straight highway for about 2.5 miles (15-20 seconds) before the driver applied and completely melted the brakes, blowing the tires and leaving thick rubber marks on the road surface, then becoming airborne for an additional 1.4 miles and impacting the cliff face at a height of 125 feet, leaving a blackened crater 3 feet deep in the rock. Most of the driver's remains were not recoverable.
Epilogue: It has been calculated that this moron attained a ground speed of approximately 420-mph, though much of his voyage was not actually on the ground.
You just couldn't make this stuff up, could you?

Proud wife Vernette

So Adrian has gone back into swimming lately - long distance ocean swims.  It's pretty hard core for me.  If I had to walk 5km on a Saturday afternoon (not in a shopping mall or something similar), I'd die within the first couple of km!  And my superman husband did it last Saturday, swam 5km from Stanley to Repulse Bay.  Pretty impressive, huh?

One thing I noticed about hard core swimmers in HK lately - most of them don't have a tattoo.  Well, nothing visible to be exact, even when they had only small swimming trunks on.
So when I wait for Adrian to get back ashore, I'd look out for those old fashioned dragon tattoos - all arms were clean but his, besides, it's so difficult to spot him by just looking at the splashes!  His splashes is not that distinctive.  ;-p

I posted about Adrian's successful 5km trial on FB the other day and received some funny responses by his friends...

definitely not very impressed with the hippo suit comment...

He sure did make me proud.  I'm so glad that I encouraged him to get back into swimming.  And of course, claiming to be the perfect man, he got me a new handbag to thank me for the support! wahahaha  how good is that?  It is also a form of compensation for I had 8 bug bites whilst waiting for him on the beach and they are still bloody itching!!

He's going to be swimming in the real race in less than a couple of weeks and if he sorts out the cramps, I figure he could probably slash 5 - 10 minutes off his time.  Let's see how it goes.

company junk trip

from left, me, Ben, Bonnie & APAC boss, Joerg Zobel

Last Friday, was our company junk trip.  We all left for the junk trip at 12:30pm, you can opt for not going but if you did, you've just gotta stay in the office and work~!

Some of my friends think that this is absolutely a great company to be working for, well, I sort of think the same.  Put it this way, which employer would let all the staff have half a day off and then pay for a couple of junk trips for everybody?  Not that many I would guess.

Anyway, we arrived at Lo So Shing Beach (Lamma Island), played some beach volleyball, dipped in the sea for a bit, had a few beers and some form of food, karaoke sessions and a fall into the speed boat... hehehe

looking alright there...

Bruised! Around the knuckle of the right thumb.  The forearm felt bruised as well, just not visible that's all.  Should not have played beach volley ball at this age, especially it's been a couple of decades since I last played!!   Having said that, it was really a lot of fun.  Chasing the ball, doing the serve, falling over... fun fun fun!

I still remember we had to take tests for PE when we were in the girls' high school.  We had to do running, jumping, throwing, basketball, volleyball, soft ball and all!!  And those were not the only sports I did (not good at them at all though), I also was a gymnast (school team), trained at least twice a week; went swimming with my brother every Saturday, rode a bicycle everyday and played badminton quite often as well.  So, I was fit, skinny.  Now, if I walked up 20 steps quick I'd start panting!  But swimming is OK, cycling should still be OK, Yoga is OK, dancing to the right music with a few pints of Guinness is OK as well.  Hehehe

Anyway, we had an awesome time out of the office and hey, don't get jealous, let me know if you want to join the company hahaha

The long distance swimmer is back on the attack!

Yes, this day the 14th of August, 2011, Adrian completed his first long distance ocean swim in HK, in a long long time.  Close to 2 decades to be exact.

I have always known that he's a good swimmer, therefore encouraged him to go back to long distance swimming because he was a good swimmer when he was a teenager.  He swam in a relay team across The Channel twice when he was a teenager.  Put it this way, how many people do you know that has swam The Channel?  Though he was in a relay team but it is still impressive, and he did it not once, but twice.  Now, that, is something that you can brag about when you sit down with your grand kids when you're 60.  I always thought that it's a pity he didn't go further in swimming.  There wasn't a platform for him to do it, the school wasn't doing enough for their swimmers.  He thinks otherwise though, he said, "we wouldn't have been able to meet if I continued swimming and eventually make it to some international races."  Well, this I must agree hehehe for I did not know how to swim until I was about 14!

And so, with only a few sessions of swimming in the pool downstairs and some snorkeling in Pulau Tenggol, off he went to take part in The Deep Water Bay Ocean Swim.  It is a 1.4km swim, not a lot compared to what he did in The Channel but it was definitely a lot of hard work considering how long it has been.  Here's the course map.

Before he decided whether or not to take part, I actually did some research on the past races and found out that the fastest bloke did it in just over 17 minutes.  But cheeky me told him 24 instead hehehe.  So he jumped into the pool and did some laps.  The last practice he had, he swam about 1.8km under 30 minutes.  But of course, that was just swimming pool.  It a totally different story when you swim in the ocean.

We got up, well Adrian got up at 5am and I got up just about 5:45am.  We got to Deep Water Bay at about 7am --  we were the first ones there.  Registered and then waited for the other participants to slowly turn up.  It rained for a little a bit just to terrorize me, the one who didn't bring any form of rain gear.  Of course Adrian wasn't worried because he's going to get wet anyway!  But luckily it only lasted for about 10 minutes.

So we arrived, one of the earliest to be there, Adrian got himself registered and numbered and wristband on.  Looking good, eh?

The event started at 8:30am this morning.  There were 278 participants, aging from 10 to 60+.  We were quite intimidated by the amount of super fit people participating.  V-shaped bodies, six packs... But I said to Adrian, "that doesn't mean that they are good in the water (of course he knew that), but you are more streamlined to do it!"  My theory is, their stiff and squarish bodies get more resistance in the water than him.  Have you ever seen a skinny shark/dolphin/whale?  In fact, look at the fastest fish, they are not skinny at all!  ;-p

Despite the lack of training and the "age" factor, he completed the whole course in just about 26 minutes!  100th in the overall placing and amongst the 39 swimmers in his age group (35-39), he finished 10!  Not bad, eh?  He is quite impressed by the results as well, although he didn't think he did as well as he did when he first got out of the water.

catching his breath

And of course, we are all very proud of him.  And, Adrian, has decided to participate all 3 races next year!

Have a look at all the photos here.

Google Translate

It should indeed say, "Restaurant", but...

And I thought to myself, "thank goodness!  at last, translation made easy!!"  Well Adrian was really disappointed at first try...

I started a blog in Chinese and of course, being my lovely husband, he would like to know my thoughts.  He's a Brit, and a Brit who does not read any form of Chinese.  So he thought of using Google translate... the comment was, "what have you been writing, my dear???" looking at me like he had to try and get to know me from scratch.

I have posted an announcement of the start of this blog here earlier, it is called New Blog.  This is the translation to the first post called "Two Blogs" (this is how I call it, not as translated below):

Two blog
My first blog on Blogspot, the called me ... and all around me ... most written in English. At that time, and her husband separatedit is one of our communication platformSometimes written in Chinese, have to give his translation (written ororal use), or he will give me that unhappy faceAlthough the face looks funnyit is not easy to translate, but the reason for that nauseatingI will not refuse him. With this new bloghad wanted to put a link just idly even, but think again (hope we can do this action), as the release of the Chinese herethe English remain inme ... and all around me ... where would it not perfect? seems very professional.. In fact, it is just fun Exhibitions it!

Helloooooooo~~~~ You call that translation?????   How????

Here's a proper translation:

Two Blogs

My first blog in Blogspot is called me... and all around me..., it is mostly written in English.  At the time when my husband and I were separated, it's one of our communication platforms.  Sometimes when it is written in Chinese, I had to translate it to him (written or dictated), or he will give me that unhappy look.  Although he looks funny putting on that face, and translating is never easy, but for that rather blushing reason, I won't refuse him.

With this new blog, initially I thought of simply posting a link and that's it, but on second thought (hope to do this more often), I may as well post Chinese posts here, keep the English posts in me... and all around me.... Just perfect, isn't it?  Seems very professional... in fact, it's just for fun.

Comments of any kind are always welcome!

And the above is almost word to word.

Pulau Tenggol - part2

Of course, you may wonder what we'd be doing spending 5 days on a tiny little island with no shopping, no TV, no spa, no internet.  Nothing much I would say.  We'd wake up, have breakfast, jump into the sea.  Most of the time Robin would ask us to tag along when he brought the divers out to the different dive sites.  Get back to the resort, have lunch, then snorkel again, and then come back, shower, dinner, take a walk on the beach or simply sit down and interact a bit with the other guests.

A lot of divers would visit this island but we think, even if you're only snorkeling, it's still phenomenal.  Although you don't get to see the many beautiful creatures in the deeper waters, you'll still be able to see some beautiful things that is just less than 30 meters away from the shore.

Some might ask about the food.  Well, the kitchen is run by a young mother (her 3-year-old is the only tiny human being on the island), the food tasted very good, and they were generously portioned.  It almost felt like home.

We don't have a professional camera, it's just a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX36, in a waterproof bag.  And these are some of the photos that we took: -

anemone - closed but we can still see the clown fish swimming in it!

another anemone, try to spot a different species of anemonefish in it.
see it? at the center top of the photo, the white stripe is on its back, the pink anemonefish

a pair of pink anemonefish, a.k.a. pink skunk clownfish, in their anemone home

look at the landscape

the amazing colours

a giant clam, just about 18" wide

the clearest photo that we have taken of a clown fish - very shallow water, approx. 1 meter deep, with the sunlight.

a beautiful giant clam - the most beautiful we've ever seen!

see the yellow, blue and white little things?  they are Christmas tree worms

this is the fish that wouldn't leave us alone, it was getting very close and even if it was so close to getting hit by our flippers it still would not leave us along!  Adrian thought it was not quite as friendly as it looked so we swam back to the boat.  However, according to Robin, they are in fact very playful fish!
Funny how 2 big persons getting scared because they were being circled by an A4 size fish... hahaha

this is Robin, the cheeky DM

a blue starfish, we've seen a few of them, spans just about 1 foot

the beautiful sunset
There you go, I don't think much needed to be said.

And we have decided, by the end of our second day, that we will return, for sure!!

Pulau Tenggol - part1

This trip, we spent 5 days on an island on the east coast of Peninsula Malaysia - Pulau Tenggol.  We were completely amazed by the place and we were already talking about returning to the island the 2nd day of our stay.  It is very raw, very quite and very beautiful.  Not as superb as Maldives but not far off.  However, if you're looking at a resort like what's available in Maldives, you should not come here.  It is purely original, not decorated at all.

We took a coach at 10:30pm the previous night and arrived at the jetty at just about 5:30am, the boat arrived at 8:30am, as scheduled, to take us to the island.  There was a storm out in the sea so the water was very rough, so rough we were drenched when we arrived (so drenched that there was not a single dry spot on our clothes, including underwear!!) and it was just a one-hour boat ride!  However, one amazing thing about the sea being so rough is that I could see numerous baby rainbows by the side of the boat because of the all the splashes!  So many that I lost count!

As soon as we got off the boat, I spotted a cat.  It was a really unique experience so I will blog about it separately later.  But if you can read Chinese, this will tell you about the interaction between me and the cat.

The room was a very simple and basic room, with hot water supply all day long and electricity from 6:30pm to just about 9:30am.  Very little mobile network coverage - just one or two bars at all times, and no internet access.  It is somewhat more isolated than some of the islands in Maldives.

The resort is owned & managed by Malaysian Chinese and run by the local Malays.  The dive master, Robin, is a very friendly and funny guy.  I was, for 4 days in a roll, the only Malaysian guest in the resort, I was out numbered by Dutch, French, Aussies, Spanish and Mainland Chinese! And so, I've been called "ah moi" almost every time he saw me.  And when he asked Adrian if he knew what it meant and my lovely husband said, "cheeky little female!" and he agreed!!!

On the very first night we arrived, we saw turtle laying eggs on the beach and we also saw milky way!!  Neither one of us have ever seen soooooo many stars in our lives.  It was simply breath taking!!  Of course, this trip being the celebration of our 2nd anniversary, a kiss under the milky way was inevitable!  hehe

My crocheting project - floral handbag

It was time consuming, a lot of different techniques but all in all, it was good fun.  This will be for my mom, and there'll be another one for my mother-in-law -- order placed by husband before I was even 10% into this project!  Of course, the deadline for the next one will be before Christmas hehehe

It took me more than a month to complete this but of course I spent about a week abroad on business and didn't bring it with me to work on.

First I started with the flowers - all 5 different types of them!!  11 different colours!!  5 different types of yarn!! Goodness!!  And material cost is less than a hundred HK Dollars...!!

Dang, I'm good!!

New blog

I've started a new blog, a blog in Chinese.

It is here.  Or you can click on the link at the bottom of my own intro here (on the right pane).

I maybe biting off a bit more than I could chew here considering I have not even had the time to blog here regularly.

I love writing but I love writing in Chinese on paper, for real... Chinese input is just too slow.  But I'm going to give it a shot anyway.  Let's see how it goes.  Some contents might be repeated but it really feels different when I write in my own language.  I'm sure, for people who can speak/write more than one language, feel the same way too.

Mr. Bean in a wig!!

Ha!  Look what we found on one if the walls in Fat Angelo's TST!!

Look at the girl in the photo, doesn't she look like Mr. Bean in a wig??  Not clear enough?

Young Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) wearing a wig!

Adrian's sense of humour...

Today is the day Adrian spends a day with his boys.  And they have the pleasure of my company for lunch.  But that's not what I'm gonna tell here.

We arrived at lunch and Adrian showed me the text between him and Philip (his elder son):

Philip:  So we'll meet you at Pacific Coffee?
Adrian:  Yes
Philip:  What are we going to do first?
Adrian:  Sit
Philip: OK

And then, when we were having main course, Thomas claimed that he was full and didn't want the Risotto at all...

Thomas: O I'm full!
Adrian: O so you're full?
Thomas: Yes, I can't eat anything any more.
Adrian: O so no dessert for you then?
Thomas: ... Noooo...
and we burst out with laughs...!
Just a few moments later,
Thomas said, "I'd do anything for a chocolate!"
Adrian: O ya?
Off he scoops a big spoon full of Risotto on Thomas' plate, with a cheeky grin on his face.
That little toad's face was so funny but surprisingly, he finished the Risotto and at the same time, realized that he must think twice before he starts his sentence with "I'd do anything for..."

This is my husband's sense of humour and I love it!  hahahahaaaa

。。 everything crossed!

喜欢看他写老友,他的老友都超有趣,羡慕! 虽然我也有很有趣的老友,可是很多时候都是我比较有趣。。。

这是其中一本蔡澜写老友的书,前天刚买的,昨天看完:

spider woman? naaa... just monkey....

photo taken by the beautiful Ms. Cat Mok!  Thanks, pretty!
The hair dryer was a lot heavier than normal today, in fact, last Thursday too.  Why?  Well, because I'm restarting sport climbing, after, slightly more than a decade!!

It was introduced to me by a very good friend and I fell in love with it in an instance.  I still remember the first session I had -- I got home with crippled arms!!  I didn't even have the strength to scoop some soup out of my bowl!!  My mom ended up helping me!  I literally used up every bit of energy in my arms.

Now I stopped for more than a decade because I did not have any support then, well I was young and thought that doing what the other half asked me to do or not to do was alright even though that was something that I really enjoyed doing.  It is different now.  I've got Adrian and I have his full support in the things that I do even if that means he won't be able to see me for a day.  He's such a wonderful man!

Back to this sport climbing thing, it's just climbing on some climbing walls, not on some real cliffs, I used to call it indoor rock climbing.  But it's obvious that it's called sport climbing now.... It's safer, more convenient, it's like an instant noodle in climbing.  No need to prep your trip and plan your route long before you climb.  You just turn up after work, in front of some climbing walls, with a couple of friends, and there you go, you can start climbing!  Ain't that wonderful?

Well part of the reason why I enjoy doing it is that it's not too physically demanding -- no jogging, running, sprinting, walking uphills... ya, ya.  I'm not a big fan of aerobic exercises maybe my heart and lungs are damaged goods haha  that's why I practice yoga and the only aerobic exercise that I enjoy is cycling.  hehee...

O ya, I get one special bonus doing it as well -- I got to know some very healthy youngsters (who loves outdoor activities and the challenge), they are soooooo different from the good old Hong Kongers that I know!!  Amazing!!

conspiracy theory...

I have received a number of emails spread from Mainland China, speculating about the actual cause of the occurrence of the 3.11 Japanese earthquake/tsunami.

Most of it is about the Japanese testing out some weapon of mass destruction in the middle of the ocean, inside of the ocean or something like that.  What a load of bullsh*t, and don't you bloody idiots think that I will forward it onwards.  If Japan had invented some weapons that could release approx. 600 times the energy the Hiroshima bomb had released, I, one that has no idea what the world has been inventing in case they need to conquer the earth, would think that Japan has already got it.  If it's a weapon that can shift their country by 3 meters, they have achieved what they wanted.

And then there's this theory about the testing of such weapons has triggered the quake... whatever.  I'm sure there are substances that could be detected by geologists, scientists of the world if there were such tests.  And I'm pretty certain the US government would conduct a very detailed investigation of the what's been speculated so that they remain the most powerful nation in the world hehehe

The fact is, this is one of the loveliest country that I've ever been to.  They have demonstrated super high level of morality, even after the disaster.  Can you, can anyone tell me which other citizens the rest of the world could be capable of demonstrating such high level of morality?  I think the Mainland Chinese think they can hence the conspiracy theory.  Come on, this coming from people who has no idea of how to queue, who produced poisonous milk powder for their kids, who can make fake eggs out of poisonous chemicals and sell them to the public???

So, if you are sending me emails of similar topics, you can give it up.  I will simply delete it.  I will trust a Japanese Yakuza member than a Chinese civilian.  Simple fact, the Yakuza is one of the first to help the victims after the disaster.  I'm not saying that the Mainland Chinese didn't help, one of the tycoons bought a load of crisps give the victims.  That's all fine, but please, please, please just don't bring them fake eggs and poisonous milk powder and carton paper minced meat!!

What's wrong with Sony Ericsson HK?? Or is it the same the rest of the world??

Adrian and I both use Sony Ericsson phones.  I have used maybe 4 or 5 already and this is his second one, well, third to be exact and his n-number of his Sony Ericsson Bluetooth device.  Whatever.

He enjoys a bit of his music when he travels to and from work, when he goes to the gym.  It keeps him entertained without needing to purchase and carry another device called MP3 player or whatever that starts with an i.  That's all fine if he doesn't get annoyed with the long wires of the earphones.  No, he can't seem to find his marbles when the wires get in his way.  So a bluetooth device is the ultimate solution for the time being.  I personally don't mind the wires, they are there for a purpose.  Of course I can live without but an additional device is a device too much.  Also, it's not like you can skip the wires... if you know what I mean.

Options are,

1.  phone + wire + earpieces
2.  phone ... bluetooth device + wire + earpieces
3.  phone ... bluetooth device + single earpiece

the first option has been eliminated because of what drives Adrian nuts, also, it's valid because for his height, with his phone in his trousers' pocket and one end of the "hands free device" plugged in to the phone and the other into his ears, it sort of limits his body movement because if he turns his head too fast, the earpieces get unplugged from his ear/ears.  Simply because the brilliant designers are not tall people.  The 3rd option is eliminated because it's for music, not only for talking on the phone and also, I need both of his ears working so that I don't have to whine into only one ear and he can't pretend not to hear me when I whine hehe

Long story short, he was off to buy this new bluetooth device that seemed perfect for him: he can use it with another set of earpiece... apparently round-body wires are easier to break than the flat, rare and expensive ones.  Also, it's got a very long battery life, 10hrs according to the box.  He chose a Sony Ericsson bluetooth because we believe the it should work better when pairing with a Sony Ericsson phone, an android phone.  So it's not cheap at all.  But hey, as long as it works.

Well, a couple of weeks ago, he can't turn it on after it's been charged.  That thing was bought less than a year ago, well, actually, I remember this because he bought it after he joined Dragages and it's not been a year yet.  You'd think that it is still under warranty.  Nope, not with the receipt, knowing HK.  The warranty is only valid if you're able to produce the proof of purchase.

My husband being my husband of course did not put the receipt together with the box.  So, without even needing to try,  I know he will not be able to get it fixed for free.  He thought he would try his luck since the thing is not even in the market for more than a year.  So he brought it to the Sony Ericsson service centre here.  They said to him, "we can have a look at it for you to see what's wrong, but it costs HKD120."  HKD 120 just to look at it.  F**k I'm gonna charge all those HK men HKD180 each who religiously stare at my cleavage whenever I wear a deep-V!!!  Imagine how f**king rich I could be!!

What's wrong with you people???  It's your product!!!  Of course you have to fix the bloody thing!!!  More so because it's bought less than a year ago, here in HK and you should fix it for free!!  Let alone just looking at it!!!!!!  We did not choose to buy your product just to be treated like some thieves or something!

2nd part of Adrian's birthday celebration

Well, the first part, I haven't blogged yet hehehehe but the 2nd part was soooooo good that I have to blog it immediately after a nap that followed hehehehe

Well, I treated him with our 2nd Champagne brunch (we had our first one in Macau, in Aurora).  I brought him to Cucina in Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel in TST.  It was on the 6th floor and we were sat by the window with Victoria Harbour in sight, bright sun light, a bit foggy but I would still class it as a good day, by HK standard hahaha

not the best but good enough by HK standard, well the sun made it up
Although I haven't been a great fan of champagnes but I like the idea of having a slow morning/afternoon out of the house and a bit of booze and a lot of good food.

There was the very popular Hokkaido long leg crab, oysters, lobsters, great salami and ham and super delicious soups.  Also, the dessert line was almost perfect, and Adrian has had 4 coffees (I had to forbid him from ordering the 5th!!)........

All in all, it was great and I was thinking that we should do this when Steve & Rosana comes over to HK the next time and when Mendy & Chris come back to HK in June.

At about 3:30, we left the restaurant (though the brunch ended at 2:30, we stayed until the afternoon tea started.... baaaaad~~) and went home for a well deserved afternoon nap -- had to get ready for the rugby game tonight!

And, now, we're off to our rugby game!!!
